Black Rock Motor Resort combines world-class motorsport experiences, refined leisure experiences, and an enthusiast community. It is located in the Lake Macquarie region, just 90 minutes from Sydney and 30 minutes from Newcastle.
Who is developing Black Rock Motor Resort?
BlackRock was founded by Central Coast resident Tony Palmer many years ago. This was in response to personal tragedy in his life and trying to find a way to improve driving standards on public roads. For years Tony ran driver education and experiences at Sydney Motorsport Park. He found the need for a facility that is centred around driver training rather than racing and motorsport was needed. We hope the users of BlackRock leave with a greater knowledge of safe driving and also have some fun along the way.
When will Black Rock Motor Resort open?
Phase 1 is scheduled to open in June 2026, including the North Circuit, go-kart track, Members Lodge, and some accommodation facilities. The full resort is expected to be completed by 2027.
Will the resort be open to the public?
Yes, there will be opportunities for the public to access Black Rock Motor Resort, these may include fine dining at the Bistro, staying at the hotel and select drive day events. Details on public days and access will be shared closer to the opening.
What types of events can be held at Black Rock?

Yes, you can join Black Rock Motor Resort now as a Founding Club Member, with a $5,500 refundable deposit. Upon launch, this refundable deposit will be applied as credit towards my membership fees. Contact us for more details.

Are there usage fees beyond the Initiation Fee and Membership Fees (like golf club ‘green fees’)?
No, your Initiation Fee and Membership Fees includes access to all site facilities. Depending on your membership type, there may be caps as to the number of times certain activities can be used - please see the Membership Agreement for specific details. There will also be additional products and services that you might want to consider, which are an additional cost (Premium Storage, Driving Academy, Black Rock Fleet etc)
Will members be vetted?
Yes, as community is a cornerstone of Black Rock Motor Resort, all membership applications will undergo a review process to ensure they align with the resort’s values and ethos. Nominations from existing members will favourably support the vetting process, helping to create a harmonious and like-minded community for all.
How often will membership fees change?
Membership fees are locked in for the duration of the membership contract. Fees may be periodically reviewed to align with operating costs and maintain the quality of the member experience.
How does Black Rock define family with reference to membership privileges?
Black Rock extends specific privileges to the families of its members, tailored to the membership type. For the purpose of membership privileges, family is defined as immediate family, including a spouse or de facto partner, children, parent(s), and grandparent(s).
Can I store a car at Black Rock Motor Resort?
Yes, we will have onsite premium storage capacity for Members to store cars at an additional cost.
On Corporate Days, as a member, can I still come to Black Rock Motor Resort?

What happens if I book a session and don’t attend or cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice?
If you book a motorsport session and fail to attend or cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice prior to the session’s start, you may be charged a fee equivalent to the guest session rate. This policy encourages members to release sessions they cannot attend, ensuring availability for others.

Four audio monitoring stations are installed around the facility to ensure sound levels comply with governing standards. Additionally, the circuit has been designed with significant green space buffers, sound abatement earth mounds, and strategic placement away from residential areas to further reduce noise impact.
What clothing or equipment is required to take part in motorsport experiences?
For motorsport experiences (excluding simulators) at Black Rock Motor Resort, participants must wear a helmet, along with a long-sleeved top and pants as the minimum requirement. Race suits are optional but recommended for added safety and comfort. Additional gear requirements may apply depending on the specific activity or event.
Can I bring a trailer for my vehicle to Black Rock Motor Resort?

Is there a fleet of cars for hire?
Yes, the Black Rock Fleet will provide (at additional cost) a range of vehicles for ‘Arrive & Drive’ here, from performance road cars to full-spec race cars.

What steps are being taken for sustainability?
We are deploying a significant solar power system that will have about 80 EV charging stations onsite. The GoKarts are all electric and charged from Solar. This pays tribute to the old Rhondda Colliery who also produced their own electricity onsite. We are reserving green spaces not to be touched and the current bushland retained. We are building all our buildings on grass areas with no trees needing to be cut down for the buildings. We are preserving the wetlands as a water bird sanctuary including nesting vegetation. The roads onsite are following the old mining roads that are still in use. Our operations will also be carbon neutral once we are up and running.
Are you cutting down the trees?
We love trees at BlackRock. We have worked at length with the architect to ensure no trees will need to be cut down for any of the buildings. All buildings will be built in grassed areas. This is something we are very proud of.
Are you sourcing local suppliers?
Yes, with the industrial areas in Toronto, Cardiff and Warners Bay we have everything we need to build BlackRock. We are using local architects and consultants. We will employ local workers with our first staff member's family from Wangi Wangi. We also want to engage and display art from the local and vibrant art community.
